Introducing Emily...

Emily Strachan

Emily trained as a nurse right from school, where she excelled in anatomy and physiology and wound care, and was promoted relatively quickly, becoming a Senior Sister by the age of 26.

It could be said that nursing was in Emily's blood, being the daughter of a French Red Cross nurse who'd run casualty clearing stations behind the First World War trenches, though so was logic, strategy, and problem solving, something learned from her Scottish father who'd served as an officer in the British army in the Great War, before becoming an accountant in civilian life.

Fiercely intelligent, with the firm and precise demeanour of a senior nurse in 1940, Emily didn't stand for nonsense, and she was tipped by those around her to excel, including training as one of only two thousand female doctors in Britain at the time. Until everything changed...

Emily Strachan first appeared in 2020 in the second book in the Harry's Game series, Hell's Corner, and five years later Falling Shadows tells the story of what happened next, when she disappeared and her letters to Harriet stopped.
